Trauma-Informed PSB: Navigation and Collaboration

Presented by:

Katie Good, M.S., LIMHP, NCC
Mental Health Coordinator
Nebraska Alliance of Child Advocacy Centers

Objectives

A trauma-informed approach to addressing problematic sexual behaviors (PSB) among youth recognizes the complex interplay between trauma, behavior, and investigation. It’s crucial to approach these cases with sensitivity, empathy, and an understanding of trauma’s impact to prevent re-traumatization and promote healing. This approach involves collaboration between professionals in PSB intervention to ensure that youth receive the right resources and support tailored to their needs, minimizing the risk of further harm.

Learning Objectives:

1. Recognize the importance of a Trauma-Informed Lens in Addressing Problematic Sexual Behavior.

2. Explore collaboration efforts between PSB intervention and investigation.

3. Understand various appropriate resources and treatment available.

4. Explore strategies for preventing further harm and re-traumatization.
