Objectives

Families involved with child welfare services that are affected by substance use disorders (SUDs) often face a host of challenges and barriers to family well-being. 

 

This session will help participants:

1. Recognize how language can perpetuate stigma about substance use. 

2. Identify engagement strategies that build on family strengths for successful outcomes and family recovery. 

3. Understand the effect of parental substance use disorders on child safety and risk. 

4. Identify the importance of collaboration.
